Landscape designer Peter Nixon died on July 19 after a 12-month battle with glioblastoma (a brain cancer). Peter designed as Paradisus Garden Design for 40 years. His work has been shown on TV and show-cased in garden and design magazines. His website is still active with links to some of those garden videos.

When he relocated from inner Sydney to Forresters Beach on the New South Wales Central Coast some 10 years ago, he continued to plant beautiful subtropical gardens that celebrated foliage colour and shape as well as flowers and form. He coined the term ‘cooltrops’ for those tropical and subtropical plants that thrive in warm coastal temperate climate gardens.

There have been many tributes to Peter shared on social media all praising his calmness and grace while facing a terminal illness as well as celebrating his wonderful contribution to the world by creating beautifully planted and considered gardens. His extensive plant knowledge and love of rare and hard-to-find species is also acknowledged.
