The Collector’s Garden Conference

23 September 2023 – Dandenong Ranges

www.agsvicgroup.org

The 30 scholarships to attend the conference ‘in person’ are being offered to current VET and Higher Education students or recent graduates in areas of study such as horticulture, botany, plant sciences, ecology, environmental science, landscape architecture, design and construction, including stone masonry, and related disciplines.

Interstate, rural and regional students and recent graduates who cannot attend ‘in person’ can apply for ‘virtual’ attendance (morning session only).

At the conference, international speaker, John Mitchell, Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, will be speaking about the importance of collecting in the wild to protect and better understand rare and endangered plant species, and the conservation processes required to bring living material back into a collection such as the one at Edinburgh.

Other speakers will include Russell Larke from the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (Cranbourne), Matt Reed from Antique Perennials, Aaron Condon, Head Gardener at Coombe and Artist, Jane Tonkin from Tonkin’s Bulbs and Craig Wilson from Gentiana, along with a number of other highly knowledgeable local plantspeople and landscapers, with experience with alpine, sub-alpine and woodland plants, and building crevice and rock gardens where these plants thrive.

We would really appreciate if you could publicise the Scholarship program to eligible students or recent graduates who you may have contacted with, including through programs, classes, newsletters or other student communication, as well as using the attached printable poster.

Application form and further information is on our website www.agsvicgroup.org .

Applications close on 16 August 2023. Applicants will be notified by 4 September 2023.
