Native orchid season has arrived

Watch where you walk is the message when it comes to many of our native orchid species, which are small or well camouflaged and blooming in bushland near you.

Matt Coulter from Mount Lofty Botanic Garden in South Australia says the orchids are in bloom in the garden.

“Wonderful wild populations of the veined helmet orchids (Corybas diemenicus) at the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, 1000s of individual plants, tiny little plants that you could easily walk past, get down on the ground to see them, a special thing to see.”

Mount Lofty is on the tour program for those who were lucky enough to book tickets for the HMAA bus tour which is part of this year’s Laurels ‘week’ in Adelaide. Although the bus tour is fully booked, bookings are still open for the awards dinner at Carrick Hill Estate, the RAS cocktail party and for tickets to the Royal Adelaide Show. See more here.
