Garden Week Launch

HMA NSW launched National Gardening week in October with an event at Eden Gardens that was a great success. Representatives of HMA, Hortigroup and the general public gathered together to mark the launch.  With special thanks to Gil Teague from Florilegium who spoke to the group and introduced some new and influential gardening books, and to Meredith Kirton who gave guests a tour of the art installations at Eden Unearthed.  We also enjoyed the company of some of the artists on this occasion. And Matt our president, had some new plants on show, most of which had been generously supplied by Jeremy Critchley of The Green Gallery.

All this was accompanied by a delicious afternoon tea and guests also got to take home a generous goodie bag (thanks to the companies/groups who donated: OCP, Yates, Gardening Australia magazine, Organic Gardener magazine, Our Gardens magazine, Amgrow, Seasol and Mr Fothergills).

National Gardening Week is sure to get bigger and bigger as years go by, and this was a great start.  Congratulations to George Hoad, HMA NSW member and national president of the Garden Clubs of Australia, for coming up with the concept. Next year’s National Gardening Week will be 7 – 13 October.  Put the date in your diary now!
