Join Darryl Nichols and Paul West on Friday, October 23 for a free HMAA webinar. The pair will introduce their nationwide organisation ‘Grow It Local’ and their mission to educate, support and inspire more Australians to grow.
Grow It Local is a national group set up to encourage recycling of food waste as well as the joys of growing your own food. This grassroots movement has spread from a backyard in Bondi to involve more than 40,000 people Australia-wide growing fruit and vegetables in backyards and community gardens.
Darryl was also behind the highly successful and now international Garage Sale Trail. His passion for recycling led him to recognise the importance of composting to keep organics out of the waste stream and from there to experience the benefits of growing your own food.
Paul West is well-known as a TV presenter (think ‘River Cottage Australia’ and ‘Back Roads’) as well as a chef, gardener and author.
While many gardeners grow food, Darryl and Paul were keen to find out why others don’t. Their research revealed that for many it’s lack of knowledge and not being brave enough to just give it a go. Part of the success of Grow It Local is the practical information and advice shared both online and firsthand, to encourage everyone to quite literally, give it a grow.
