It is of course the avocado. The avocado ‘ripeness scanner’ has been designed in Holland to allow customers to scan an avocado before buying to check for ripeness.

The first scanner in Australia has been placed in a Sydney supermarket for trials. It is hoped scanners will reduce bruising caused by squeezing the fruit to test for ripeness.
