
You have likely seen Greenlife Industry Australia (GIA) in the news over the last week, championing a rethink of Australia’s red imported fire ant (RIFA) eradication program.
Yesterday on Sky News, I said the government needs to make a greater financial commitment to address the fire ant problem and that the RIFA eradication program needs an urgent overhaul.
Without action, this infestation will not only harm the nursery sector, it will cost Australia more than $2 billion a year, every year – and have irreversible impacts.
