HMAA member Sophie Thomson has received the Green Adelaide Pelzer Prize at the 2022 SA Environment Awards. Sophie said she was totally honoured to receive the award “and humble to be part of this group of amazing award winners, finalists and commendation recipients making a huge difference to our world.” In presenting the award, Green Adelaide Board Presiding Member Professor Chris Daniels said the renowned horticulturist was recognised for her passionate commitment to gardening but more importantly conveying the benefits that accrue to our environment and overall community wellbeing.
“Sophie is a superb example of someone who has a tremendous love of nature, which is rivalled by her enthusiasm to make a practical difference,” Prof. Daniels said. “She has a fantastic ability to bring others along on the journey with her, and inspires them to find small ways to make a difference too.
“We are thrilled to support the Pelzer Prize again this year and we congratulate and thank all of this year’s SA Environment Awards winners for their dedication to our environment.”
The awards, run by the Conservation Council of South Australia in partnership with the Department for Environment and Water and Green Adelaide, acknowledge individuals, groups and organisations that dedicate their time, expertise, and passion to care for our precious natural environment.
Congratulations Sophie from all your HMAA colleagues!
