The Green Room at the Queensland Garden Expo was the ideal location to welcome and catch up with new member Sarah Heath.
Sarah is a horticulturist with more than 20 years’ experience in the commercial production, culinary uses and health benefits of growing and using herbs and edible flowers. She owns and is the driving force behind Basilea Living Herbs, a wholesale nursery and urban farm in Burpengary (Qld), that supplies culinary herbs, unique salad greens, hand-picked flowers plus ‘grown to order baby micro-greens’ for some of Brisbane’s best chefs and restaurants.
In addition to her role as master grower, Sarah educates chefs, retailers, gardeners and consumers through her on-farm tours and workshops, plus is a much sort-after speaker for garden shows. Sarah was a speaker at the 2023 Queensland Garden Expo – her third consecutive appearance at the event. She regularly speaks on hydroponic production and use of herbs, flowers and other edible crops; techniques for kitchen gardening; growing year-round salad and spinach greens and making herbal tea infusions.
Basilea Farm Open Days are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month when gardeners can buy direct from the farm, but products are also available at a number of retail outlets in the Brisbane and Moreton Bay region.
