Queensland shines at the 2025 Australian Biosecurity Awards

Queensland excelled at the 2025 Australian Biosecurity Awards, securing 5 awards that recognise and celebrate the contributions of individuals and organisations working to safeguard Australia’s environment, agriculture and communities.Congratulations to our winners:Dr Allison Crook received the Lifetime Achievement Award for almost 30 years of work in animal health and biosecurity.Queensland Beekeepers’ Association Inc was acknowledged for protecting bees and working with us to raise industry biosecurity standards.Dr Geoff Pegg, alongside Aj Perkins from the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, received the Environmental Biosecurity award for protecting Australia’s unique ecosystems.Dr Kirsty Richards was honoured with the Industry Award for advancing biosecurity practices.Torres Strait Island Regional Council won the First Nations Award for Excellence for its work safeguarding ecosystems and cultural heritage.These awards highlight Queensland’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Australia’s biosecurity. Read more about the 2025 award winners.
