Queensland Garden Expo speaker line-up unveiled
Renowned cook and TV personality Paul West will share his celebration of home grown food as he joins an already impressive line-up of presenters to make his first appearance at the Queensland Garden Expo from 13-15 July this year.
Best known for his role as the host of four seasons of ‘River Cottage Australia’ on Foxtel and SBS, Paul will share his thoughts on the power that food has to transform lives, environment and communities for the better when he joins the likes of gardening favourites Costa Georgiadis, Sophie Thomson and Jerry Coleby-Williams for the three-day event.
Event Manager Marion Beazley said the Expo would provide a fantastic opportunity for the more than 40,000 visitors to learn and be inspired by the largest speaker program of any gardening event in the country.
“At the Queensland Garden Expo we pride ourselves in delivering a quality line up of speakers every year that will engage with visitors with all levels of gardening interest, from serious green thumbs to the novice gardener,” Ms Beazley said.
“We’re delighted that this year Paul West will travel north from chilly Melbourne to be part of the program of more than 120 presentations scheduled throughout the event. Speakers come from far and wide to cover a vast array of topics which can include anything from cooking with fresh herbs to creating and designing a beautiful garden for dining and outdoor entertaining.”
Ms Beazley said following his guest presenting role on Gardening Australia this year, she was thrilled to have Mr West on the speaker bill for the first time in the expo’s 34-year history.
“Paul is a passionate advocate for gardening for self-sustenance and is proving this can be done almost anywhere with his home garden in the suburbs of Melbourne,” Ms Beazley said.
“He will deliver a number of presentations at the Expo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday sharing his philosophy of ‘garden to table’ and ‘keeping it simple and superb’.”
“Paul will be joined at the Cook’s Garden Stage by local presenter Tim Adams — creator of Tim Adams Specialty Coffee — as he discusses quality and sustainability in today’s coffee market, and Kevin Redd who will provide tips on growing greens and turmeric in the home garden.”
Popular Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis will present ideas and inspirations from gardens and communities around the world, discuss gardening in a world of change, and visitors can even join him a for a ramble through the massive onsite kitchen garden.
Other topics for discussion at the Expo include gardening for health and wellbeing with Sophie Thomson, sustainable garden remedies with Jerry Coleby-Williams, and how to maximise your backyard harvest with Phil ‘The Garden Guru’ Dudman.
The 2018 Queensland Garden Expo will feature more than 120 presentations and demonstrations across eight stages. It will be held on 13-15 July at Nambour Showgrounds, Coronation Avenue, Nambour.
