New England Garden Festival Set to Bloom!

The New England Garden Festival (NEGF) is back for its second year in Armidale NSW and is paving the way for rural garden festivals! This event is no small feat, run by a group of dedicated and passionate gardeners who not only have the huge task of organising a festival, but also liaising with gardeners around the New England region to open their garden gates to thousands of visitors.

Visitors can enjoy approximately 20 amazing gardens that encapsulate the spirit of cool climate gardening in the New England over 7 days. These gardens are spread between the towns of Walcha, Uralla, Armidale, Guyra, Glen Innes, and Tenterfield. Each town offers its’ own flavour, and visitors are encouraged to stay the night in each location to truly experience all that is offered in the region.

The festival itself will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of November at the Armidale Racecourse at 12 Barney Street, Armidale. It promises the best of guest speakers, including HMA member and Gardening Australia’s own Costa Georgiadis, as well as demonstrations, workshops, and market stalls.

The festival also raises money for Can Assist which, in 2023 (the festival’s first year), raised $24,000 and was split equally between the three towns of Armidale, Guyra, and Uralla – the major hubs of the New England region, where many resources are accessed by residents of the greater region.

You’re probably thinking that there couldn’t be any more to this event – but you’d be wrong! This event doesn’t end in spring – organisers are facilitating a garden trail in Autumn 2025 – famously the best time to visit the New England region to see the kaleidoscope of autumn colours.

This is a fantastic event filled to the brim with community, pride, and of course passion for gardening and nature. All who are able to are encouraged to support and attend where possible!
