Publisher nextmedia has announced the appointment of a new editor and horticultural editor to the leading gardening publication, ABC Gardening Australia magazine.
Elizabeth (Liz) Wilson is taking up the position as editor in late June. She is a journalist with more than 25 years of experience in newspapers and lifestyle magazines. For the past 13 years she was deputy editor and gardens editor at Australian House & Garden. She is a former editor of Country Style.
As a keen weekend gardener, Liz is a firm believer in the power of plants to enhance a home, create a sense of sanctuary and reconnect with nature.
“Gardening Australia is such a beloved title, and I’m excited and honoured to be stepping into the editorship, continuing the amazing work done by Jenny and her team,” says Liz. “I look forward to nurturing the magazine into the future.”

Horticultural editor Phil Dudman has also stepped down from his role with the magazine but will continue as a contributor. His replacement is Victorian HMAA member AB Bishop, who assumes the role and who has had a long connection with the magazine most recently as horticultural consultant.
“People have such a strong connection to this magazine, and I’m excited at the opportunity to play a role in curating this practical resource for Aussie gardeners,” says AB.
ABC Gardening Australia magazine has been in print for more than 30 years and has been part of the nextmedia stable for the past seven and a half. During that time, it has seen circulation increase by more than 25 per cent.
Outgoing editor Jenny Baldwin says she is thrilled to be passing the magazine into such capable hands. “I know Liz and AB will do an outstanding job shaping and crafting this resource that delivers the advice gardeners need, when they need it. I’ll miss the team very much, but am looking forward to fresh challenges – and you’ll still see me popping up from time to time in the pages.”
