For Melbourne’s retail garden centres, it’s a spring like no other. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented public demand for plantlife, in Victoria and indeed throughout Australia. This collective enthusiasm for gardening presented them with a winter like never before, with record sales and dwindling stock. The boom in gardening, shows no signs of slowing down but in a cruel twist Melbourne’s retail garden centres are restricted to click & collect or delivery trade only; a scenario that sees them unable to meet the public demand for their plants or their expertise.
