Brisbane Garden Expo Report

The inaugural Brisbane Garden Expo was held on Saturday 5th September to a crowd of well over 4000 attendees for the one-day event.

It had been four years since Brisbane had a major gardening event that catered to all interest groups. For this reason the long line up at time of gate opening was impressive. People rushed in at the sound of a bell and to explore the treasures of each stall holder.

Members of HMAA such as Arno King, Kat Pearson and Paul Plant where amongst the keynote speakers to draw in the crowds and passionate gardeners.

Organisers of the event said they received positive feedback from visitors, exhibitors and speakers. “We are very grateful to everyone who supported our first Expo and we look forward to delivering an even stronger Brisbane Garden Expo in September 2027”.

One exhibitor, and member of HMAA, Russell Young of Russell Young Garden Designs indicated the “Brisbane Garden Expo’s future is very bright! It’s only going to get bigger and better!”.

Queensland Proteas, first time event exhibitor said “we are very proud to be part of it. A big thank you to all that attended and to the organisers and staff who worked tirelessly over the weekend!”

From the perspective of the horticultural media, events such as these are highly desirable to foster a passion for horticulture and to introduce new people (and the youth) to gardening.

As a summary of the event and reflecting on the faces of attendees, this event has a bright future ahead.
