Invasive fire ant nest detected at logistics centre in Sydney's inner west - ABC News

Specialist fire ant detection dog teams have been deployed to the site in Sydney’s Enfield and a nearby area with no other nests having been discovered.

What members should do:

  • Look for small, dark reddish-brown ants (2–6 mm) with darker abdomens.
  • Be alert around plant pots and recently delivered turf, soil or mulch.Keep clear of suspected nests. Don’t disturb, destroy or treat them yourself; fire ants can swarm and sting.
  • If safe, take a clear photo and report suspected sightings to the NSW Biosecurity Helpline on 1800 680 244, even if you’re unsure.
