Victoria Pearce shares the wonderful day HMAA members spent exploring some of Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills inspiring horticultural destinations after The Laurels.
Horticulture Media Association members and guests began the tour at Neutrog, with a visit to its state-of-the-art laboratory to view the latest innovations, manufacturing processes and see the fascinating role of microbes in producing premium biologically activated products. We then travelled to Bird in Hand Winery at Woodside for a memorable winery and garden tour with Susie Nugent. Named South Australia’s 2024 Garden of the Year, this magnificent garden beautifully reflects Susie’s years of passion, dedication and care.
At Mount Lofty Botanic Garden, Matt Coulter guided us through Magnolia Gully, the remarkable Titan arum or corpse flower collection and the Chris Steele Scott Pavilion. Thank you, Matt, for sharing your exceptional knowledge and enthusiasm for plants.
The tour ended at Stangate House, a beautiful National Trust property and home to Camellias South Australia. Managed by the Hills Branch of the Camellia Society, its historic gardens are renowned for their magnificent ancient oak tree and impressive collections of camellias and azaleas.
