Top honours in MIFGS show gardens 

Matt York of Ratio was awarded the City of Melbourne Award of Excellence for Best in Show with ‘We the Wild’, inspired by Victoria’s southern coastline. He also received the Horticultural Media Association Award for Best Use of Plant Life. Plants for the design, which included mature grass trees, were supplied by Kuranga Native Nursery and Surf Coast Palms. The garden also won Gold.

Joel Barnett’s ‘je ne sais quoi’ from instyle was awarded the Mark Bence Construction Award and also received a Gold medal. Plants were supplied by Chartwell Nurseries and Warners Nurseries.

Other medal winners

Silver Gilt went to ‘Urban Luxe’ by Andrew Stark Gardens.

There were three Silver medalists: ‘Love Blooms Here’ by Jason Hodges; ‘Where we Gather’ by Emma Dorman Design; and ‘The Future Garden’ by Jamie Durie.

‘Echoes of the Ancient Silk Road’ by Ikftikhar Ahmed was awarded Bronze.
