Manager of Garden Centres of Australia, Lisa McCann, is urging garden centres to focus on kids and families to attract customers during the upcoming winter school holidays. In a newsletter to GCA members, Lisa says: “In a world full of screens, what better place to spark curiosity and hands-on fun than your garden centre?”.
She says families are looking for low-cost, local activities and the local garden centre can be the destination they keep coming back to. To assist members, GCA has put together Let’s Get Gardening activity bags with ideas to help make garden centres not just kid friendly “but kid magnetic”. Ideas range from mini potting stations to selfie walls, dress ups, bug adventures, guess the seed and a ‘green thumbs’ story time.
