Despite searing temperatures in early March, Kalamunda Garden Festival attracted almost 10,000 people. Many HMAA members in Western Australia took part including John Colwill, Deryn Thorpe, Faye Acaro, Andrea Whitely and Sabrina Hahn.
Due to the high attendances at this autumn’s show, more than double previous figures, the organisers have decided to cap tickets at future events. Run by the Andrew and Mandy Osenton from the Kalamunda Plant Company, the Festival features more than 100 garden-related stalls.
John Colwill says the growing popularity of the event is down to the varied plant offerings and increased advertising focussed on northern areas in Perth.
“Since it is only a one-day show, many small specialist growers can afford to attend,” says John. “As a result, plant choice is more varied than the big B or any other garden show.”
The Festival is held four times a year on the first Sunday of each season at Stirk Park in Kalamunda. The next Festival is June 1. For more information see Kalamunda Garden Festival website.
