Online herbarium opens to view

Go behind the scenes of the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney with its online image archive – hosting more than a million plant specimens from the National Herbarium of New South Wales.  The platform is the first and largest mass digitisation of a natural history collection in the southern hemisphere and is now free to explore.

Over the past five years, RBG scientists, with the support of Amazon Web Services (AWS), have archived and digitised the entire Herbarium collection, which includes over 800 specimens collected by botanists Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander.
