Chloe Thomson represented HMAA at the 47th annual Victorian Schools Garden Award Presentation Ceremony and presented the Best School Garden Habitat Award, which was sponsored by Horticultural Media Association Australia. The successful schools each received a $1000 nursery voucher and a copy of the book Habitat by HMAA member AB Bishop.
And the winners are…
| Drouin West Primary School | Primary and Special Schools with less than 280 pupils |
| Eltham East Primary School | Primary and Special Schools with more than 280 pupils |
| Altona College | P-9, P-12 and all Secondary Colleges |
Unfortunately, Drouin West Primary School couldn’t attend the day due to the distance to travels but were delighted to be among the winners.
Victorian Schools Garden Program Co-ordinator Tania Karamitos extended thanks to Horticultural Media Association Australia for supporting the Award programs. The change of Award category this year resulted in the category HMAA sponsored having the second highest entries after the edible category.
She said that HMAA’s support helps cultivate gardens that are sustainable and beneficial for both the students who grow them and the wildlife who all will call them home.
