Perhaps it was the idea of a White Christmas that gave us some welcome relief from Sydney’s scorching temperatures for our HMAA Christmas Party held last Friday reports Toni Salter.
Donned in white, 15 members and friends gathered at newly opened The Grove Cafe located at Mother Earth Nursery in Kenthurst where we enjoyed a sumptuous three-course lunch.
The nursery is a small boutique nursery stocking collectable and rare plants, so members were able to purchase some specialty plants to take home. The nursery has been owned by Mark Massey for the past six years. He has also acquired two additional nurseries, allowing him to supply greater Sydney, the Central Coast and beyond.
Mark joined us for a short talk, sharing his story and passion for rare plants. Watch out for a webinar with Mark to come next year for all HMAA members.
The lunch was held in a delightful setting outside in the nursery and the crisp white colour scheme was soothing and calming for all. The new chef excelled himself with a set menu that was worthy of an up-market restaurant.
Those who attended were also treated to a Christmas goodie bag filled with fertilisers from Neutrog, seeds and Thrive from Yates and some gazania ‘Harvest’ plants generously donated by Mal Morgan from Glenfield Nurseries.
It was a wonderfully refreshing time to catch up with old friends and colleagues and even a surprise visit from past members of HMAA, who just happened to drop by at the same time.
