In its latest newsletter, the Foundation & Friends of the Botanic Gardens has announced that as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary since the discover of Wollemi pines growing north-west of Sydney, six rare trees will be auctioned.
These second-generation trees are descendants of the ancient pines discovered in the Blue Mountains and are a living testament to the importance of conservation efforts. Two years ago, a specialised team of scientists carefully propagated these trees from the original specimens. It is the first time in 20 years that second generation trees are being auctioned.
Pete Thomas, CEO of the Foundation says the auction is a unique chance to own a piece of history and contribute directly to the conservation of our precious plant life. Bidding kicks off at 10am on Monday, September 9, 2024. For details see this link
