Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) has been detected in the Northern Adelaide Plains, the first time the disease has been found in South Australia.
The virus affects fruit and growth and is affecting tomatoes and capsicum in commercial growing areas in Europe and other parts of the world. Breeding is underway to develop ToBRFV resistant crops.
If growers note anything suspicious with their plants and crops, they should immediately contact the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881.
The best way to manage this virus is with very careful hygiene.
