Next week, NGIV is heading into Queen’s Hall, Victorian Parliament House, for Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria’s fifth (yes, fifth!) Horticultural Showcase.
From Tuesday to Thursday, they’ll be talking to the state’s decision makers and advocating for the interests of our members. They’ll engage with Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum to highlight the scope, scale, and significance of Victorian horticulture.
During the showcase, they’re committed to encouraging MPs to prioritise key areas that matter most to us. They’ll be encouraging them to:
1. Support the next stages of planning, development and delivery of a dedicated Horticultural Centre of Excellence, while promoting our industry as a rewarding career choice to address the labour and skills shortages that have the potential to limit future industry growth.
2. Commit to urban greening initiatives, which are not just beneficial but essential in enhancing community health, protecting biodiversity, and strengthening our economy.
3. Support the horticulture industry’s resilience and adaptability
4. Celebrate the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show (MIFGS) and acknowledge its cultural and economic contribution to Victoria
Follow them on Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn for updates through the week.
