It is with great sadness that we share the news that bibliophile, publisher, horticultural bookseller and gardener, Gil Teague of Florilegium died on February 12. His death was announced on social media by his daughter Mary, who wrote:
“My beautiful, loving father, Gil Teague – 31.05.1943-12.02.2026.”
Many of us knew Gil well and all would have been touched by his love of gardening and horticultural books along with his kindness and generosity. Although he closed Florilegium in Sydney several years ago, he remained an important figure in the gardening and book world.
I am sure we are all saddened by this news and join with me in passing on our deepest sympathy to Mary and his family.
This lovely photo of Gil captures how we all remember him – gently smiling and surrounded by wonderful books.
